![]() ![]() Solo camping for me is always a thrill.if for nothing else, just to prove to myself that I can. ![]() After a hike around the jewel-green "Lost Lake", I packed up camp and headed home. Through the rising fog in an open field, I saw a group of 5 Elk- 2 male and 3 female.very cool! I sat and enjoyed a beautiful sunrise and then headed back to camp for breakfast. This morning, I was up before sunrise with hopes to catch some more Elk sightings. I just assumed it would be a raccoon, but there sat a plump little porcupine staring back at me. Once they came close enough to my tent and stopped, I grabbed my headlamp. As soon as I crawled into my tent, I began to hear the twig-breakers & the pitter-patter of little feet crunching through the leaves. The coyotes yipped in the distance, and a warm fire and glass of wine were the perfect ending to the evening. Back at camp, it was a beautiful, peaceful night for stargazing & I was able to capture some great images with my 'real' camera. She stopped to graze a bit, as the sky became too dark to see much else. About 15 minutes before sunset, a large female elk came running across the field. For the second year in a row now, I've treated myself to a solo camping trip to the Pigeon River State Forest during the Elk rut, and this year's adventure did not disappoint! After setting up camp late yesterday afternoon, I headed over to one of the designated viewing areas around dusk. Part of that was losing my adventure partner, but most of it is because I no longer need to escape the city. Since moving North to my treehouse, I find myself not camping as much as I used to. #regrann #victorianarchitecture #archi_ologie #oldhouselove #oldhousecharm #victoriancottage #preservation #secondempirearchitectureĪ post shared by archi_ologie on at 3:12pm PST He was president of the local bank, a cigar manufacturer and founder of the Bon Ami Social Club.
